The Minister of State for Health, Dr Olorunnimbe Mamora, says all is not yet perfect as regards the COVID-19 issue.
At a briefing on Monday to update Nigerians on the status of the COVID-19 containment efforts, Mr Mamora said although Nigeria has not recorded any new cases, the country is still at high risk.
The minister told newsmen that Nigeria will continue to monitor travelers coming and going out of the country
He revealed that Nigeria has added three new countries France, Germany, and Spain, making it eight countries on Nigeria’s priority list.
According to him, passengers from these eight countries will undergo critical screening at ports of entries.
The countries include Italy, China, South Korea, Japan, Iran, France, Germany, and Spain.
Mr Mamora restated that the suspected coronavirus Enugu case tested negative.
He further revealed that the contact person of the index case has been discharged.
The minister stressed the need for organizers of large events to ensure that temperatures scanners are made available since the government is not imposing a ban on gatherings yet.
While stressing the need for personal hygiene as the most potent preventive measures, Mr Mamora advised that alcohol-based hand sanitizers be regularly used.
Speaking more on personal preventive strategies, the minister also emphasized the need to do more of cashless transactions.
He warned against the tendencies to be complacent and appealed to the media and other citizens to ensure that fake news does not prevail and aid the spread of panic.
